In the framework of the Nuit Blanche, Paris, 2003.
Devided as a series of events bringing together diverse artistic practices, “Entraînements” seeks to explore the potential within contemporary choreographic culture. The first stage of the project, which took place in September 2002 at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, focussed on the experience of time. From 1 September to 5 October 2003, a new series of choreographic events will be presented at venues across Paris, designed to stage situations in which performance and everyday life intersect. The sense of dance as a form of “doing” is placed at the very heart of the project. The different events, activities and presentations that make up “Entraînements” both create and reflect a diverse array of modes and methods of movement. Each resists the objectification of dance, in theatre and explores the capacity of dance to summon or even directly to cause action.
